OpenOffice.org 2 has very good support for many languages in one document. It just took me a while to find the place where I can change a paragraph’s language. It’s well hidden in the Fonts menu.
Additionally it has a neat spell-checking feature. When it doesn’t find a word in the currently selected dictionary, but in that of another language, it asks whether you want to change the word or paragraph into that language.
